In Mexico, the transformation of the legal and institutional framework resulting from the Energy Reform, allows the modernization of the sector and gives greater flexibility to take advantage of the opportunities of the accelerated technological change to move towards a low carbon economy.
The transition towards greater energy efficiency and the use of clean energy is a process that involves the government at all levels, economic actors and society in general, in this sense, in a participatory exercise we elaborated the Transition Strategy to Promote the Use of Cleaner Technologies and Fuels, as established in the Energy Transition Law.
This strategy is the guiding instrument of national policy which contains medium- and long-term policies, actions and metrics to achieve a participation of clean energies in the total energy generation of 35% by 2024; 37.7% by 2030 and 50% by 2050; And for energy efficiency, we set to reduce the final consumption energy intensity by 1.9% for the period from 2016 to 2030 and 3.7% for the period from 2031 to 2050.
I congratulate the organizers of the Cinema Planeta 2017, who through short and feature films, contests and conferences; communicate issues of sustainability, the environment and the relationship between human beings and their environment, encouraging the interest of young people in the energy sector.
